Numerical Study Regarding the Seismic Response of a Moment-Resisting (MR) Reinforced Concrete (RC) Frame Structure with Reduced Cross-Sections of the RC Slabs

In the first part of current study, effectiveness transversal cross-section reduction method for RC beams in marginal areas (by means mechanical drilling) was validated. The said “encourages” formation plastic hinges at beam ends and, same time, allows taking into account bending stiffness slabs, which is exerted upon beams. these conditions, second research study (i.e., manuscript) highlights real mode reducing lateral slabs These elements form a common body, together with beam–column frame node. as study—“weakening” plates corner area through vertical drilling, without affecting integrity reinforcing elements—was used. analytical MR model, studied by comparative method, efficiency slabs.
